Embry-Riddle to Sponsor ‘Talking With Heroes’ Tour

Daytona Beach, Fla./Prescott, Ariz., May 25, 2011 – Embry-Riddle has agreed to be a sponsor of Talking With Heroes (www.talkingwithheroes.com), a web talk and video program that broadcasts stories about military personnel who are stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait.

The university will sponsor a July trip to the Middle East by Bob Calvert, the host of Talking With Heroes, who will conduct interviews with Embry-Riddle alumni serving in the U.S. military there.

Embry-Riddle has one of the nation’s largest enrollments in Air Force, Army, and Navy ROTC programs, and many of its graduates go on to serve with the military in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Additionally, the university’s Worldwide Campus educates military personnel at more than 150 locations in the United States, Europe, Asia, Canada, and the Middle East, and through online education.

“As a veteran myself, I came to Embry-Riddle ten years ago because of its proactive stance on taking care of our young veterans, so I am proud that we are supporting the Talking with Heroes tour,” said Frank Ayers, executive vice president and chief operating officer at the university’s Prescott, Ariz., campus. “It is the right thing to do for the young men and women of our armed forces and our graduates serving in the forward area.”

“Embry-Riddle is proud to work with and support Bob Calvert in his efforts to reach out and touch the members of our great military family. Their ‘service above self’ commitment is one of the fundamental strengths that make our country great,” said Richard Heist, executive vice president and chief academic officer at the campus in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Embry-Riddle was introduced to Talking With Heroes by Mark Lyden, a university alumnus and lead recruiter at Boeing Co., whose book, Veterans: Do This! Get Hired!, offers proven advice to veterans who are seeking a job.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world’s largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, offers more than 30 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in its colleges of Arts and Sciences, Aviation, Business, and Engineering. Embry-Riddle educates students at residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., through the Worldwide Campus at more than 150 locations in the United States, Europe, Asia, Canada, and the Middle East, and through online learning.
